Still in my romanticist vein, El Greco spoke to me not only in his unique style but also in his thought. As for instance, when he wisely warned the student not to be led astray by copying the Masters too much:

You must study the Masters but guard the original style that beats within your soul and put to sword those who would try to steal it.”
